Rainbow Unicorns

A white unicorn with rainbow-colored mane stickes her head out of an abstract, tri colored paper background

5/12/19

Running short of time again this week. I’ve been working on St. Clair Art Association’s  summer class flyer. In addition to our regularly offered classes, we’ve added two special workshop series: Thursday Nite Arts and Gee Whiz Science. Carolyn and I are really looking forward to teaching new concepts.

This week’s challenge started with a magenta water lily from Pixabay. First, I cropped it square, then turned it upside down and applied a polar coordinate distortion filter. That gave me a lovey abstract background, but I needed something to balance out the petals. I can’t tell you what brought unicorns to my mind, but since they’re a bit magical, I thought it might work. I found this regal unicorn at Adobe Stock. I’ve brightened the rainbow colors of her mane, and added the colored light that would reflect off the background onto her white hide.
